Quad Infotech Inc. recently completed installation of the [QMOS] MES system at Nucor-Berkeley, Nucor’s beam mill in Huger, SC, to manage the facility’s Roll Shop.
The [QMOS] system will be used to coordinate efforts related to Roll Shop and Stand Building functions. All Roll Assembly, Turning and Scrapping activity will be recorded. Scheduling of rolls for the mill is handled, with allowance for the intricate details related to Universal Stand rolling and setup. New detailed Roll Inventory management features is key to the installation. Location Management has been enhanced in order to eliminate lost time spent searching for and retrieving rolls. Mill Setup Shop operations will also be coordinated by [QMOS]. The system will also facilitate setup of shop processes by providing better tracking for use of chocks and bearings.
