Introducing QMOS Apex digital dashboard and web portal
In a business organization, no matter how well distributed the Information System is, the availability of the information is still limited to the few who work with the system on a day-to-day basis.
There are many who do not use the Information System but their awareness of the data is pivotal in the constant improvement and ultimately, success of the organization. These people could be anywhere from shop floor operators all the way to the upper management.
A digital dashboard is a collection of data visualization tools that provide the means to quickly get an overview of how an organization or a section of an organization is performing and the reasons behind its performance. A digital dashboard achieves this by allowing a user to monitor important business activities and processes that give insight into a company’s activities. One example of a tool used by dashboards is KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). KPIs give the user a very accurate idea of how a unit is performing without the user having to do deep analysis. KPIs are a fast and efficient way to deliver information, and are an integral part of a digital dashboard. |
Why are KPIs important?
The Aberdeen Group examined more than 350 enterprises in a diverse set of industry sectors for the study. The results show that businesses that embrace a KPI-based initiative are more likely to achieve Best-in-Class performance status, a label the report defines with six key performance criteria. Furthermore, the study reveals that 61% of Best-in Class companies utilize technology tools such as dashboards to access KPI information, versus 49% of average companies and 37% of larger companies.
In addition to providing quick analysis tools such as KPIs, dashboards allow the user to analyze the root causes of performance from many different perspectives. Once the root causes of performance are known, it is much easier for that organization or individual to act accordingly. In short, a digital dashboard is a tool that allows a user to quickly monitor and analyze an organization, division, group or individual’s performance.

Slide Shows are effective
QMOS Apex adds yet another dimension to the functions previously mentioned by providing the ability for creation of Slide Shows. Multiple channels (screens) can be grouped together and played in sequence in an infinite loop. Each channel will have its own designated display duration. The Auto Refresh mechanism applies to Slide shows as well, allowing each channel’s data to be refreshed according to the predefined timing scheme.
The Slide Show’s main advantage is to provide the means to setup score boards around the office or plant. The scoreboards can be setup as large screen LCD displays that will run maintenance free while displaying live and up-to-date data.
