Quad Infotech has developed an extensive suite of applications called Quad Mill Operation System qmos ,specifically designed for managing the information requirements of steel mills. This suite integrates all the different processes in steel mills under one umbrella; eases information flow and makes data available promptly throughout the plant. qmos manages all the production aspects of the Melt Shop and Rolling Mill as well as order entry, scheduling, shipping, QA and inventory management.
QMOS has been designed specifically with the processes of steel mills in mind. This allows for a much shorter implementation period and a far lesser budget than some of the typical ERP systems. Also, since the applications have been designed with the real life steel making process in mind, they are much more user friendly and intuitive than generic applications.

Receiving sales orders and integrating them into the work orders across the Melt Shop and Rolling Mill has always been a challenge in any steel mill. QMOS provides this capability along with special tools to make this process easy and optimized.
Melt Shop Production
The QMOS Melt Shop modules offer full coverage of the Melt Shop from scrap loading to billet inventory. Thanks to the ability to communicate with the PLC systems through our innovative and cutting edge line of OPC products, QMOS operations can be made fully automated in the Melt Shop.
Rolling Mill Production
The QMOS line of rolling mill products manages production from the reheat furnace to the inventory for the finished goods as well as post processing of finished goods. All the production information and process parameters can be tracked and analyzed. Through its unique method for tracking time, QMOS ensures that every second of every shift is accounted for. This allows QMOS to not only automatically detect a delay as it occurs, but it also records such operational delays as planned gap (time between bars) and Pace which would otherwise be impossible to distinguish. This information is used in calculating utilization and efficiency numbers that are extremely accurate. These valuable numbers become the highest focus point for any operational improvements.
Quality control and Certification
Coordination between the QC and Production teams have always been a big problem in steel mills. QMOS has resolved this problem by fully integrating all QC related functions into its core architecture. This allows all QC related information and actions to be readily available across the enterprise in real time. This creates an unmatched level of communication and awareness between the QC and Production departments.
