CMC selects QMOS as its standard production system enterprise wide

The full Rolling Mill suite of QMOS will be implemented in all CMC rolling mills in North America.QMOS will be used fully in all aspects of the Roll Shop and Setup Shop’s day to day operations. It will also manage all rolling and tagging operations.
QMOS will be interfaced with CMC’s corporate SAP system where it receives all customer orders and transmits all production information.
The mills involved in this operation are CMC Texas, CMC Arkansas, CMC Alabama and CMC South Carolina

Introducing QMOS 10.5

QMOS 10.5 was released offering some fundamental improvements aiming at improving the QMOS experience.
Roll Shop was also one of the biggest areas of improvement in this version. Many new enhancements were added to improve the existing functions as well as providing a higher level of visibility in the data.

QMOS interface with SAP starts Jan 1, 2008

The QMOS-SAP interface for CMC is planned to go live beginning of 2008. SAP will be sending orders as well as product catalogue information to QMOS. All finished good production information from QMOS will be sent back to SAP.

Nucor Nebraska upgrades to QMOS 10.4

Previously on version 10.0, Nucor Nebraska had both its NN1 and NN2 mills upgraded to QMOS 10.4. The greatest benefit of this upgrade was the wide range of functionality enhancements available for Scheduling and Finished good management. As a result of this upgrade both the schedulers and mill personnel have greater capabilities in managing and maintaining the schedules as well as any last minutes changes and modifications.
The new Product Family Tree design also provides the Roll Shop with a much more intuitive and user friendly interface for manage their recipes and setup sheets.

Gerdau Ameristeel Beaumont Live with QMOS 10.4

Quad Infotech, with thanks to the folks in Beaumont, TX, achieved another milestone by celebrating the successful implementation of QMOS 10.4. New enhancement were made to the finishing goods management screens in QMOS in order to handle Beaumont’s specific requirements for coil tracking, inspection and tagging.

Nucor Seattle upgrades to QMOS 10.3

Nucor Seattle first began with the Roll Shop module in 1992 and since then has incorporated more and more of the QMOS application package so that currently all mill functions are included.

VMS Star upgrades to QMOS 10.4

The seamless tube manufacturer has upgraded to version 10.4.
Many enhancements in production and delay analysis will enable VMS to produce better performance reports and process management.

CMC-Texas Live with QMOS 10.5

Quad Infotech added another mill to the QMOS family as CMC in Seguin, Texas went live in late October. This was the culmination of the project that began in July, as CMC-TX became the first mill to implement the new QMOS version 10.5. Included in this package are some new and easy-to-manage scheduling tools for the Roll and Guide Shops, and new functionality dealing with adding bundles directly into inventory using a hand-held scanner.
The next phase of this project consists of interfacing with CMC’s corporate SAP system.

CMC Arkansas Next to Adopt QMOS 10.5

The CMC family has opted to spread the benefits of a standardized production monitoring system by installing QMOS 10.5 in its newly acquired mill in Arkansas.

A New version of Recipe Management System released

This application manages the transfer of rolling mill recipes to the PLC to be used by the speed control system. The new application provides a greater level of accuracy in transmitting data to the PLC as well as being more integrated into the QMOS core architecture allowing it for better and more seamless integration
Cartersville Plant Upgrade Underway

With the installation of QMOS in Gerdau Ameristeel’s Manitoba Division complete, the QMOS system is able to coordinate a vast network of production operations from the Scrap Yard through the Melt Shop, Billet Yard and the Rolling Mill to the Bundling and Shipping of finished product, while at the same time imposing all internal and external processing specifications.
